Phil Thompson’s 2017 Golf Classic!

LFC Legends Steven Gerrard and Phil Thompson come together at the 2017 Golf Classic!

This year’s Phil Thompson Golf Classic took place on 18 May at Houghwood Golf Club. Beautiful weather made it an excellent day’s golf for the 90 guests who played in 23 teams and included two other former Liverpool players, Terry McDermot and David Johnson.

We were joined by a Deaf team this year, which included Simeon Hart from S4H, who are BSL training company and also regular golfers and four of the team from the Horticultural Training Centre who helped with the nearest the pin competition.

The evening dinner was followed by entertainment from comedian Willie Miller and a surprise guest, Liverpool Legend Steven Gerrard. Willy hosted a Q&A with Steven who spoke candidly about his career, his support for local charities and working with the Academy players at LFC and gave some time for the teams to have pictures taken with him.

The evening auction and raffle raised in excess of £8,000 which was matched by Barclays, to over £16,000, This will support two of our children’s and young people’s services; Clumber Care Home and Marydale Secure Centre.

A big thanks to the staff from Barclays Contact Centre in Wavertree and Barclaycard Kirkby for helping out on the day and for their continued support.

We would also like to thank:
David M Robinson Jewellers for donating the prize watch for nearest the pin competition.

Chris, Andy, Francis and Dan from the HTC for helping out on the day.

Phil Thompson for hosting the event and inviting Steven Gerrard.

Houghwood Golf Club for their support in organising the day.

Everyone who has supported the event through donation of prizes.

All the teams that played on the day and so generously supported the raffle and auction.
