HTC Open day

Our patron Phil Thompson joined the team at The Horticultural Training Centre in Lowton on Wednesday 12 April for an open day.

Staff and trainees where joined by friends and family for tea and cakes, a barbecue and a raffle, and despite a bit of rain, we all had a really good afternoon, as the pictures show.

The Centre supports adults with learning disabilities with learning skills in gardening and ground maintenance and was formed in 1994 in a beautiful two acre site at Lime House Care Home.

Alongside training, the team provides gardening and ground maintenance work opportunities for the people supported in over 15 gardens in the surrounding area including private residences, churches and schools.

Social days out each week are also a highlight, and have included trips to museums, shopping trips and lunches out, visits to local gardens, fire, police and ambulance services and fisheries visits with a spot of fishing.
