Schools Social Work Services in Merseyside
The Schools Social work Service provides every secondary school and their feeder schools with a professional social work service based in their school. Our focus of intervention aims address the issues that prevent children/young people from reaching their physical, emotional and educational potential, and which affect the well-being and stability of the family.
The service aims to allow the teacher to teach, whilst the students who need that extra support are able to access this within their educational environment.
The range of services we offer include:
- Social skills/behaviour management
- Anxiety – for school refusers
- Building self-esteem/emotional resilience
- Bereavement counselling
- 1:1 Direct work
- Attendance at TAS/TAC/CAF meetings
- Family liaison/pastoral support
- Safeguarding advice
- Continuous wrap around support for the more vulnerable students.
All our staff are qualified Social Workers from a variety of backgrounds including child protection, adult/child mental health services, education, domestic violence and therapeutic services.
All are highly skilled in working with ‘hard to reach’ families, are child centred in their approach and use evidence based interventions within their daily work.
